South Park BESS

Project Introduction

South Park Battery Energy Storage (BESS) is a cutting-edge battery storage project located in Park County, Colorado. With an installed capacity of 200 MW, this project plays a crucial role in enhancing the reliability and stability of the local power grid. By storing excess energy and releasing it during peak demand periods, South Park BESS ensures a consistent and reliable power supply for the community.

The project not only contributes to grid stability but also brings significant economic benefits to the local area. Over its lifetime, South Park BESS will pay an estimated $9,440,000 in property taxes, with $154,797 allocated annually to support local schools. South Park BESS plays a vital role in strengthening the local power grid. By providing a reliable source of stored energy, the project helps balance supply and demand, reducing the risk of outages and ensuring a consistent power supply. This stability is essential for supporting the growth of renewable energy sources and creating a more sustainable energy future.

A Positive Impact on the Community and Environment

South Park BESS is more than just a battery storage project; it’s a commitment to the community and the environment. Park County is a drought-prone area so the added economic benefits that South Park BESS offers will go directly to the Fire Department.

As part of this, the local fire department will be able to keep a 30,000 gallon water storage tank on-hand to use as needed for the County.

In addition to its environmental benefits, the project brings significant economic advantages to Park County. The property taxes paid by South Park BESS will support local infrastructure and services, while the annual contributions to local schools will enhance educational opportunities for children in the community. These benefits make South Park BESS a valuable asset to the region, fostering both economic growth and environmental sustainability.
