RWE Renewables Americas ranks among the top 10 onshore wind companies in the U.S. and the number of projects in the U.S. is growing. The U.S. market is a strong focus of ours and our strategy for renewables is geared to growth: RWE will invest an annual amount of $1.66 billion annually to expand its wind, solar energy and storage technologies portfolio.

We develop, own, and operate some of the most efficient, highest performing renewable energy projects in the United States. Already active in onshore wind and photovoltaic renewable generation, RWE Renewables has added energy storage to its portfolio and has developed and constructed more than 5,000 megawatts of renewable capacity in the United States since 2007. As part of RWE Renewables, our goal is to deliver renewable energy from technologies that address the growing concern about energy security, energy affordability, and climate change.

The company also builds and develops large-scale photovoltaic plants in Canada.

We are also home to RWE Trading Americas (“RWETA”), representing a local connection to the North American energy markets for RWE Supply & Trading GmbH. Based in New York City, an important hub for major energy investors, traders, brokers, and policy drivers, RWETA’s activities primarily focus on the management of existing and origination of new RWE Energy Transition Investments.

We are key drivers of the energy transformation – working to achieve ambitious goals

Data networks, mobility, industry, infrastructure, companies, family: we all need energy. Our society faces the huge challenge of meeting the burgeoning demand for power while at the same time mitigating against climate change.

With a global workforce of 20,000 people and a generation capacity of 41 gigawatts, RWE is a key driver of the energy transformation. We are investing heavily in the expansion of renewables and storage technologies. Innovative projects like floating offshore or the use of hydrogen are making rapid progress. For our conventional energy sources, nuclear energy and coal, government-mandated phaseout roadmaps have been defined.

Our goal is clear: to be carbon-neutral by 2040.

On its way there, RWE has set itself ambitious targets for all activities that cause greenhouse gas emissions. The renowned Science Based Targets initiative has scientifically confirmed that these emission reduction targets are in line with the Paris Agreement.
