Rainbow Trout Solar is a proposed 120MW utility-scale solar project located in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Designed to meet the rapidly rising energy needs driven by American manufacturing, industry, and the growing demand for grid electrification, Rainbow Trout Solar will generate enough power for approximately 20,000 homes while occupying less than 1% of the county’s farmland.
Currently in development, Rainbow Trout Solar is expected to be operational by 2027, with a life cycle of up to 40 years. By combining cutting-edge solar technology with a commitment to local engagement, Rainbow Trout Solar is more than just an energy project—it’s a long-term investment in prosperity, securing future opportunities for local workers and families.
Rainbow Trout Solar aligns with Indiana’s all-of-the-above energy strategy by supporting domestic energy expansion and increased capacity to meet the accelerated growth in energy demand in the Hoosier State. With a focus on job creation, economic growth, and energy independence, the project demonstrates how clean energy can drive American competitiveness, support domestic manufacturing, and strengthen local communities—all while delivering reliable, affordable power and supporting local schools and infrastructure through increased tax revenues.
