Rainbow Trout Solar

Project introduction

Rainbow Trout Solar is a proposed 120MW utility-scale solar project located in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Designed to meet the rapidly rising energy needs driven by American manufacturing, industry, and the growing demand for grid electrification, Rainbow Trout Solar will generate enough power for approximately 20,000 homes while occupying less than 1% of the county’s farmland.

Currently in development, Rainbow Trout Solar is expected to be operational by 2027, with a life cycle of up to 40 years. By combining cutting-edge solar technology with a commitment to local engagement, Rainbow Trout Solar is more than just an energy project—it’s a long-term investment in prosperity, securing future opportunities for local workers and families.

Rainbow Trout Solar aligns with Indiana’s all-of-the-above energy strategy by supporting domestic energy expansion and increased capacity to meet the accelerated growth in energy demand in the Hoosier State. With a focus on job creation, economic growth, and energy independence, the project demonstrates how clean energy can drive American competitiveness, support domestic manufacturing, and strengthen local communities—all while delivering reliable, affordable power and supporting local schools and infrastructure through increased tax revenues.

Strengthening Indiana’s Energy Infrastructure

Rainbow Trout Solar directly contributes to grid stability in Tippecanoe County and beyond by diversifying the electricity mix and adding significant new capacity. This addition of 120MW of clean power will support increased reliability, reduce strain on existing resources and lower dependence on imported fuels. By integrating advanced solar technology with the county’s grid, Rainbow Trout Solar helps safeguard local energy supplies and supports Indiana’s broader efforts to achieve energy independence. Strong grid infrastructure means more secure power for homes, businesses, and critical community needs—now and for decades to come.

Building a Brighter, Prosperous Future for Tippecanoe County

Rainbow Trout Solar is more than a solar farm—it’s a strategic investment in the future of Tippecanoe County and American energy. With up to 40 years of clean energy operations, Rainbow Trout Solar will continue to deliver American-made power, stable returns for landowners, and economic growth for the region.

By adding new generation capacity, the project empowers Tippecanoe County to attract new industries and jobs, strengthen local manufacturing, and provide students with opportunities supported by increased school funding from property taxes.
