The Baron Winds Project is a wind-powered electric generating facility currently under construction in the Towns of Cohocton, Dansville, Fremont, and Wayland within Steuben County, NY.
Baron Winds LLC proposed to construct the facility in two separate phases (Phase I and Phase II), and approval of this phased approach was granted on April 27, 2020. Baron Winds is located primarily on agricultural and recreational land, and both phases of the project will consist of turbines that have tip heights less than 650 feet, roads, and collection lines throughout the 25,000 acre project area. The project’s point of interconnection is the existing Canandaigua substation.
The Baron Winds Project is subject to New York State’s Article 10 Siting Process and the project will also be required to obtain other state, local and federal permits prior to construction and operation.
