Natural gas generation complements renewable energy

Natural gas-fired power plants are part of an integrated power system that can provide fast, dispatchable power at times of high demand. How natural gas flexible generation works

In a flexible generation power station, natural gas is combusted to spin a turbine similar to an airplane engine. However, instead of jetting you to your next destination, it’s efficiently producing electricity.

By pairing natural gas with renewable energy from wind and solar, a flexible generation power plant enables quick transition to natural gas when output from renewable energy sources fluctuates . These power plants can ramp up in a matter of minutes and can support grid stability during extreme weather and high-demand periods. A diversified, balanced grid helps ensure reliability and supports system operators managing rapid load growth.
